All,
The IP Model Info page is one of the oldest on IP Home Port - it was part of the original launch in 1998. It's been expanded over the years as new models have been added, but functionally it has remained more or less the same with only minor visual changes to match each new generation of this website.
I'm happy to announce that a new version of the IP Model Info page was published earlier today. This page contains significantly more information than ever before, all organized into logical tables. The seven tables are as follows :
General Information - First Built, Last Built, Number Built and Diesel HP plus Fuel, Water and Holding Capacity.
Boat Dimensions - LOA, LOD, LWL, Beam, Draft, Mast Height.
Displacement & Ratios - Displacement, Ballast, D/L, SA/D, B/D. Note that the ratios are factory numbers and not available for all models (but I'm working on it!)
Sail Area & I J P E - Sail Area plus the I J P and E measurements
Mainsail Rigging - Halyard, Sheet, Topping Lift Tail, Topping Lift Wire
Staysail Rigging - Halyard, Sheet, Clew (Furling), and Topping Lift
Other Rigging - Jib Halyard, Jib Sheet, Boom Vang, Reefing Lines, and Traveler Control
To access this page just click on the IP Model Info link in the Main Menu. This will bring up the General Information table by default. You can now choose any of the other new comparison tables from the drop-down menu located in the top center of the page - the requested table should appear automatically once you make your selection.
Admittedly I still need to add a few of the more recent models to these tables and fill in an empty field here and there. That said, the overall structure is working well so I decided to go ahead and make the tool available anyway pending these last few changes.
[ edit 9/17/11 : I've now updated the seven tables to include all current Island Packet sailboat models. There are still some gaps here and there in the tables where data isn't readily available, but I'm working with the factory to address as many of those as possible.]
I'm also working on some additional extensions to this concept that should make this tool truly unique and informative - hopefully this coding will be done sometime in the next month (if not sooner). Stay tuned for further announcements!
Please note that, as the footnote says on each of these new tables, all Island Packet models are subject to specification changes (dimensions, capacities, ratings, equipment, etc.) during their production life. The specifications given are representative and should be used for general comparison only. Colors listed for rigging lines are typical and may vary. Hopefully the lawyers are happy now!
Fair Winds,
