All, No doubt many of you have noticed the new user interface for the IP Home Port website that has appeared in stages over the last few weeks. This is the result of our upgrading the forum to UltraBB software. The majority of the parts & pieces of IP Home Port (such as the Owner's Registry, IP Model Info page, etc.) are the same, they are just now skinned in an attractive new package that allows us to move forward with a variety of enhancements that were on hold due to limitations in our old forum software. Our new forum software, UltraBB, is actively supported by both the product's developer and a global user community. It offers a number of exciting new options for us in terms of future features and functionality, but most importantly it allowed us to upgrade without any loss of user account data or posts. This was vital because the forum contains almost 4,000 user accounts and 14,000 posts dating back to 2004. This represents the fourth major iteration of the IP Home Port concept since it was first launched in 1998. That said, this website continues to focus on knowledge delivery - our primary goal is the timely and efficient delivery of whatever information you may need to optimize your Island Packet experience without a lot of extraneous noise getting in the way. Be sure to watch this forum for announcements about new features that are currently under development and almost ready for release. Also be sure to watch the 'Website Tips & Tricks' forum in the new Administrivia category for details about what's new for you to explore in terms of features and functionality. My thanks to Bobby Ward, username 'grainne' for his help in making the UltraBB upgrade a success. Fair Winds, |
