I purchased a new Yamaha 6HP outboard for our Caribe L9 dinghy in September 2023 from Haven Harbor Marina, Rock Hall, MD. We used the outboard for 1/2 of our ‘23-‘24 cruise to the Exumas in the Bahamas, where I purchased a Yamaha 15 HP 2 stroke on March 25, 2024, prior to our return to the Chesapeake Bay. The 6HP did not have enough power to put our Caribe on a plane and dinghy distances in the Bahamas are quite long. We stored the 6HP on the stern rail of our 35’ Island Packet for our return north. It has been stored indoors since June 2024.
The Yamaha 6HP has very low hours and in is excellent condition, except for a small scratch on the Yamaha logo on one side. The outboard has Dolefin wing stabilizers, a factory fuel tank and all receipts and documentation and a valid warranty till September 15, 2026. I can verify all dates with our hand written (in ink) log book.
The outboard is currently stored indoors at a marina in Yorktown VA. We spent the past winter at our home in Colorado and will return to our boat in late May ‘25 when I can arrange to show the engine. Unfortunately, I don’t have a photo of the engine given my current location.
Given our 35’ sailboat, I only have room for 1 outboard engine and therefore I am quite motivated to sell this outboard! $800 obo
