I'm looking for a replacement Raymarine SL70RC Plus or RL70C Plus chart plotter display head in good working order. I'm in Belize, can't buy much of anything here and concerned about getting back to the US without working electronics. Can pay promptly by PayPal for unit and shipping.
Regards,
Rob Helsby

Hi Bobby how are you and Leslie doing?
Yea,I've been looking on Ebay but so far no one is willing to ship down here or even transship via Miami. I'll keep trying though. Looks like another hot sticky summer on the Rio Dulce, Guatemala (Ugh!). I might be able to get a new radar/chart plotter put in there, but frightful duties and taxes and little or know support help.
I see one of the IP members was selling a 70RL, but I don't think that model will work with my CMAP NT charts. Guess I may have to bite the bullet and drop a few thousand on a new system. If you happen to stumble across a unit in Florida this summer, I'm all ears. Thanks for your interest and I (we) hope you are both well.

Rob,
I have the RL70C plotter that will take the Cmap chips, available However, I'm up in British Columbia Canada. I checked the shipping rates to Belize and one might as well by an airline seat! If you know of a better way let me know.( PM me)
Cheers
Dave

Thanks for your reply Dave. Shipping I can probably work out, in fact I may be visiting my sister in Vancouver in the fall. The real problem is trying to sort out the Raymarine hieroglyphics re. the different models. Some units are mono only (not colour) and others don't run CMAP NT+ (the + means wide area charts) which is what I need. Does your unit have the word "PLUS" written over the Raymarine logo in the top left hand corner of the case? Also, are the charts and radar in colour? And finally, does it say "Raymarine from Raytheon" below the cats eyes when you light up the screen? (It shouldn't if it's the right one.)
The 2 models that I know are correct are the SL70RC PLUS and the RL70C PLUS.
Sorry to be so long-winded, but trying to sort out this stuff from here is a huge pain.
Thanks and best regards,
Rob Helsby

Hi Rob
Attached pic should answer your questions. It is the color radar and NT+
Chip is what i was using. I also have the radome and cables available.
Lot easier to get to you if you want it in Vancouver.
Cheers
Dave

Boy, this all so mind-bogglingly confusing. I think you actually have the RL70 CRC (Color Raymarine Chartplotter) version, but the fact that it is Raytheon not Raymarine is even weirder. The other brain fizz is the lack of it saying PLUS on logo, I think means that it doesn't have some radar features like chart overlay and MARPA. (Apparently the PLUS on the logo has nothing to do with it accepting CMAP NT+ charts!). That being said, I'll continue to do a bit more research to check it's compatibility.
Can you tell me how much you are asking for the unit, display only and what kind of shape it is in? Unfortunately it would be too difficult to try and get the radar scanner back to Central America as well.
Thanks again,
Rob

Hi Rob,
I did a bit more research, to add to the confusing model designations. My unit definitely had an upgrade to the hsb2 designation to allow it to do the functions you described. I've added more info in your PM.

Dave
