There is a through hull under the galley sink that needs replacing.I have been advised that repair is not suitable in this instance. The question arises "should I be replacing all the through hulls?"

The othere show no signs of problems but I wonder if the life of the originals is over.

Any input to this would be greatly appreciated.

I presume that you are replacing the thruhull due to corrosion. If that is the case I have found widely varying corrosion damage on my thruhulls. If you are really concerned, replace them. But if the boat is being hauled for any length of time, remove the thruhull and if it is the ball valve type, unscrew the body and check for corrosion, particularly on the threads holding the body together or on the ends.

Replace as necessary.

WWF,

Welcome to the forum!

Please take a few moments to complete your user profile so that other owners can help you better - knowing the year, model, and sailing waters can be very helpful with this kind of question. I'm guessing that you have a 1992 IP44 from the subject line, but if you fill out your profile this information will be automatically included with every post (in the left-hand column under your user name).

See http://www.iphomeport.com/forum/view_topic.php?id=431&forum_id=18 for more information.

Thanks in advance!

Stuart
